I have worked as a Medical Writer for over 10 years, and during that time I have been involved in many different projects, from leading a publications account with a primary publication in The Lancet, to international webinars and scientific platforms for ground-breaking rare disease therapies. This has led me to work with some of the biggest pharmaceutical companies in the world and meet with world-leading experts. I have strong client-facing skills, and enjoy the process of building relationships with clients and key opinion leaders.
I am driven by a strong interest in communicating scientific advances that translate into meaningful clinical benefit and I approach new therapy areas with enthusiasm and dedication. I have a broad scientific knowledge across multiple therapeutic areas, with specialist experience in respiratory, rheumatological, inflammatory bowel disease, cardiovascular, renal-metabolic, multiple sclerosis and ophthalmological diseases. I have also worked on real world evidence and health economics and outcomes research publications. I am a member of both ISMPP and EMWA and I am committed to upholding ICMJE standards and Good Publication Practices.
Prior to medical writing I gained a PhD in cardiovascular science specialising in infection, inflammation and thrombosis, using the zebrafish as an animal model. This gave me an excellent understanding of basic science and translational research relating to three very important biological systems.
I have also worked in the clinical environment and have experience of gathering data for pivotal clinical trials for antiplatelet therapies. This was a valuable experience allowing me to see the day-to-day workings of clinical trials while also meeting with patients and hearing the impact their disease has on their lives.
I am based on the outskirts of the beautiful Peak District National Park, and when I'm not working I love to run and cycle in the hills.
